Re: power pro--unplug after use?

Unplugging your Shopsmith is up to you to decide based on your circumstances. As you see there can be good reasons to unplug it. I turn off the red key safety switch but do leave mine plugged in most of the time. If a lightening storm is expected in my area I do go through the house unplugging non-e...

Re: 10er jointer cutter head 129-12x

If it needs sharping it is best to do them together. I use the Planer/Jointer Knife Sharpening set from Shopsmith. (see link below) Doing it that way all three blades are sharpened at the same time to the same size. This is important with this Jointer Head since there is no individual adjustments fo...

Re: Model 10E for sale

Yes, we believe that the production serial numbers started with 1001. The first 250 Model 10E's made were shipped to West Coast Montgomery Ward stores November 15, 1947. The lowest serial number reported is 1032 on Skip Campbell's survey and I had seen 1036. This does not count the 10ER's made in Au...

Re: 10er jointer cutter head 129-12x

Getting one used is the only way to get them. It was introduced for the Model 10's and continued into the Mark 5 era until discontinued. Since it has not been made in decades there are no real new ones available. Some of the old Jointer Heads I have gotten have had little or no use. If listed with a...

Re: MARK V 18" JIGSAW fit my 500?

That Jig Saw in the picture looks in great shape. IMPORTANT, before running it make sure the main housing has oil. See Manual! The Jig Saw is no longer made and many of it parts are no longer available new from Shopsmith. As for blades it uses common plain end blades found from many suppliers and th...

Re: Mark 5 Greenie Repair Questions

This will repeat a lot of what David said. There are the first three editions of the Mark 5 manuals currently available on Everett's google drive. The 3rd edition will be the closest to your Mark 5. The 5th or 6th edition would have been the edition that came with your 1956 Greenie depending on when...

Re: Broken Lever Lock - 520 fence

I have seen it, but do not know how it broke. I bought a used 520/M7 fence for a very low price which had one of the lock levers broken in the same place. Purchased a new lock lever from SS and replaced it. Now I have a good working fence. After you replace the lock lever check to see the locks are ...

Re: Model 10E for sale

Hi chace and welcome to the forum, You said you have model 1272 but do you mean serial number 1272 for a Model 10E? We would love to see pictures. If it is Model 10E S/N 1272 it would be from the next Model 10E's made after the original shipment. If you need help on how to post pictures on this foru...

Really, eBay sellers

Today I noticed this ad on eBay with the following picture. Lathe Spur Drive Center For Mini Jet/12”Atlas/ShopSmith 510er-Mark V/Delta New Lathe Drive.jpg How is this supposed to work on a Shopsmith tool? Besides this ad today I saw Mark XII, Mark VII parts listed as Mark V and Mark V11, yes the let...

Re: Something to do when there’s nothing to do

Good suggestions. After doing those and you find you still have more time on your hands check your clothes dryer and clean out the lint inside and in the vent ducting. Lint buildup is a common cause of dryer fires. Also have you checked your Smoke Detectors lately? Something we are normally supposed...
