Re: ER spindle height?

I have often read that the center line of your lathe should be the same height as your elbow is from the floor. What does my elbow have to do with your lathe height? ;) I am certainly not an experienced turner so this may be incorrect. I think you want your fore arm that holds the tool to be parall...

Re: Once more - the Mark V comes through

... Second, I'm not router savvy enough to follow all of this. Why do you think the first router bit broke? And why would a 1/4 inch shank, 1/2 inch diameter bit do better in the higher RPMs of the OPR than in the PP at lower RPMs? Intuitively, I would have thought the opposite, but again, I'm a ro...

Re: Restoring 10ER S/N 83974

Is that a PowerPro cardboard box tucked underneath there? ;) Chris Yes :D :D :D Look back through the thread and you will see it. Re: Jointer

I checked my jointer and it would not go past about 3/16. That's enough for my purposes since I've never cut rabbets with my jointer. But I couldn't just leave it in that condition. I disassembled it to check the machined runners for gunk. As the photo shows they weren't gunky, but one of them look...

Re: PowerPro Woes...

Sometimes I think the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. In any case, SS needs to communicate better internally. I agree. When I got the email about the SS Traveling Academy at the beginning of November I called SS to see if the old policy of souses attending free still applied. Gail k...

Re: Once more - the Mark V comes through

I forgot to mention, When lauding the capabilities of the Mark V, the reason I decided on using the OPR. The 1/2" mortises in the stretchers and legs were started, at first, with a 1/2" straight bit (W/half inch shank) secured in a Shopsmith router arbor, on the spindle of the PowerPro. A...
