Topic: Purpose of second slot on old 500 tables?

Hello all: I see an old Mark 500 table, carriage, and fence for sale on Ebay, and the ad and picture show the table has a second saw slot very near the headstock side, slightly smaller than the main slot in (more or less) the middle of the table. My old 500 from 1980 has only this latter slot. I'm ...

I don't understand the statement regarding the arbor being able to "self align". Are we talking about the arbor aligning on the shaft OR the blade being mounted to the arbor? Either way - how does it "self align"? When the table carriage is slid all the way against the headstock...

Anyone know what is up with the Power Pro? I have been saving up, but I am being made offers I can refuse such as a 10ER for $49.99 with a speed changer. I have another 10ER in Florida which I need to get up to NJ. I have two heavy-duty DC motors which I plan to use on the 10ERs. I considered modif...

I think some folks are willing to pay more on ebay than the retail cost because they avoid backorders. I have a dado arbor on back order with Shopsmith presently... when will I get it? I haven't a clue. On ebay though, if I was willing to pay top dollar, I could have one in hand this week. Alec Tha...

Right. And I expect that will be the one I get with the Moldy/Dado blade set. Apparently the "Universal" arbor (same part.no.) is no longer available. Glad I got mine when they were. I like being able to switch the WWII blade with the Combi and have the blade in the same position without ...

Work continues and I am flatting a drawer front the old fashion way. The planer is buried and the drum sander has a new home in Indiana. I sometimes get caught up in Production Mode and forget the pleasure of using hand tools. All the new cabinets should be finished this comin...

Further 'observations': I notice the position of the speed selector dial appears to be 'beyond' "fast". If it was there when you tried to start it at the PO location, AND the motor(fan/floating) sheaves were 'stuck'. I doubt it would have started on a 20A branch circuit. With the 1 1/8HP m...
