Another Pen Truning Book
I am unfamliar with the book you mentioned. However I just finished reading the most comprehensive Pen Truning book I have found to date. Check out "Turning Pens and Pencils":) by Kip Christensen and Rex Burningham. I purchased it at woodturningz.com. Jim Parks

Lift Resistance
Speaking as a person who lives with a rotator cuff tear anf has linited strength in one arm, the lift is very easy to use. It reduces the weight being lifted and lowered to a very managable level. It's great for someone who otherwise would be unable to fully use the shopsmith:) Jim Parks

1/2" Router and Smalleer Chucks
I recently purchased a 1/2 Porter Cable Model 890 router. Then found 1/4" and 3/8" chucks for it online online. It works great with my SS router table. Mine came with both standard and plunge base. I love it. Jim P.
