Re: New in the shop "The generic thread"
Someone needs to make one with a built in LED putting a spot of light right on the mark. Since I'm not a teenager anymore my alignment skills have degraded a lot. It's not just my eyes, stiffening joints make small adjustments more difficult also. I do like using the fence on my SS drill press becau...

Re: GFCI protected circuits
The entire upper floor of my addition has combination AFCI/GFCI breakers with the fancy LEDs. The addition has it's own panel, the original house has those ancient regular breakers that don't cost $50 bucks a pop. I have to check what the basement breakers are in the addition, they aren't GFCI but A...

Re: 3D printer advice and recommendations
Thanks Roy. I had noticed the JG AURORA A5S on Amazon. It costs a little more but it claims a bed that's about 12x12" instead of 10x10". However, I did see some comments about issue like you mention with releasing larger pieces, and also about the noise. The Creality gets the best reviews ...

Re: 3D printer advice and recommendations
Thanks. I've been looking at the upgraded version of that, the Ender 3 V2 , currently $279.00 at Amazon. These are getting good reviews for budget models, and a budget model is how I should get started. I might just go for this soon, my family has enough ideas for things they want to print to make s...

Re: Shorty dedicated drill press
Yes, 9 1/4". You can see how short they appear in my picture and the picture from benmcn. It really is all that is needed for the smaller table.

Re: Shorty dedicated drill press
I followed that design. You can see the details in this thread. benmcn provided the details for the dimensions. You can see initially in the photo at the end I used the extension table for the main table support. I worried about the legs being in the way in front but as I was advised there it is not...

Re: Shorty dedicated drill press
If you use the John Burger concept from the link above (I did it using a Model 500), you may want to switch the the table lock and height controls to the right side. Also as shown you will want to have tubes mounted in the forward SPT holes as table supports. I added some HDPE plastic blocks under t...

Re: Shorty dedicated drill press
Depends how old it is. Some of the earliest Greenies, had slightly wider bench tubes. See the post below in this thread , linked from the Everything Mark 5 / V - Technical info, documentation, links thread. The way tubes (uppers) are all 1.75 in. The bench tubes (lowers) on most machines are also 1....

Re: Collet holder
I like what you're doing there, very good use of the tool. How much set up and cutting time did that take you?
