Re: Noisy 1991 Bandsaw

I try and go slower than 1000rpm if I can. Also make sure your tension is correct. Might want to check and see if the guide is calibrated correctly. You can use the same oil you use for lubing up the speed control sheeves, sewing machine oil, on your guide bearings to see if that helps. Just take th...

Re: Jigsaw Parts

Would you be interested in a plastic trunion? I've been meaning to design and print them up. I was going to make a new lighter table for mine out of plywood. A lot lighter than the cast iron one it came with.

Re: Noisy 1991 Bandsaw

I had a similar loud problem with mine. Turns out I didn't have the speed dial set right. Also check the upper wheel bearing grease. I cleaned out the needle bearings and re packed them with wheel bearing grease got much quieter after that. I use a 3x5 index card when I set my cool blocks.

Wooden shopsmith model from Nick's Woodshop?

Howdy Y'all. Does anyone have the plans for the little wooden shopsmith model I keep seeing the background of the sawdust sessions? I feel like I saw them somewhere before. I was thinking that it would make a neat gift or project to do with my kids.

Thanks in advance.

Re: New to shopsmith and have an interesting bandsaw question

I wanted to update this just in case anyone else did this as well. When I rebuilt the headstock, I pulled the speed control assembly and everything out of it, cleaned it and put it back together...... Without a tach I might add. When I reinstalled it I didn't set the dial correctly or adjust the slo...

Re: Jigsaw Parts

Let me hopefully get this thread back on track. Yes, rebuild/restore the jigsaw. Or let me know and I'll take it off your hands:). If anyone here would like a 3d printed yoke, let me know. I designed and printed several and they are working great in a couple of rebuilt machines. I also would like to...

Re: SS sharpening guide

Perfect. Thank you for tracking that down. After going through my 4th edition, it looks like there is a lot of very valuable information that was left out from the previous editions. Any chance of getting a screen shot or more details about the second guide angle? I do have a bench top 2x42 belt gri...

Re: Bearings and Assemblies from eBay, Jacob Anderson, etc

I've rebuilt 3 headstock's this year and bought my bearings, belts, and a few other things from Jacob Anderson. He is fast and great to work with. I'd recommend him. He does a great job with his videos as well. As for the SPPT coupler breaking..... 3d printed coupler has been lasting me a year witho...

Re: SS sharpening guide

I was thinking about making this as a Christmas gift. Does anyone have a copy of the design for this guide? I looked into the older version of the PTWFE, but didn't see it there. Looks like there are two guide blocks for different grind angles? Thanks in advance. In an older PTWFE there was a jig fo...

Re: Bandsaw Maintenance...where to begin

Howdy, That sounds A LOT like mine. I just got the bearing upgrade kit and will be installing them this weekend. I'll also be measuring the db before and after to see if it makes a difference. Have you taken all of the bearing off and cleaned/oiled them? I've got a thread going about adding foam to ...
