10ER headstock pulley removal

I am working on a 10ER with Serial # 34027 and having very little trouble with the disassembly except for the headstock pulley. I removed the two set screws (shown below) and the pulley doesn't budge. I know it might be stuck on with 70 years of corrosion and grunge, but I was first wondering if the...

Re: can someone tell me what the issues with the power pro headstock are

I haven't followed the comments about Power Pro issues here on the forum (or elsewhere) because it's unlikely that I will be buying one anytime soon. But you might find good insights from forum member Tom on his Woodshop Nerdery channel on Youtube.

Re: A few things you might want for yourself

Hello Dennis. You will love these clamps once you start using them. Even though the prices have gone up recently (just like everything!), I think they are an excellent value. Just check the price plus shipping from the three retailers I listed above. I had bought several orders from Harry Epstein, b...

Re: A few things you might want for yourself

I have sold most of my clamps, of various brands and types, and now have Dubuque bar clamps. I've mentioned this brand to numerous friends and other people I know who work in the shop and surprisingly, not one has heard of this brand. The quality is exceptional, and they are lightweight and easy to ...

Re: My Growth Rings with Scott Markwood

FYI, in case anyone ever needs the reference, the manual that came with my GWG II has a parts diagram and parts list.

Re: My Growth Rings with Scott Markwood

My GWG II arrived today, date of manufacture 02 26 91. The included manual has a date of 12/90, so it's probably the same version as the one Russ mentioned. Also included is the knife sharpening accessory #555301 with instructions.

Re: Shop Deputy Length

Seajay,

I would do what JPG suggests and set it up first with the 34" tubes and use the tools for a while so you can determine how much more shortening can be done. I am doing just that right now and trying to decide how much needs to stay before I cut the tubes.

Re: I removed myself from all Shopsmith Facebook Groups

My anecdotal observations about FB have been that only a few young people we know use FB ("young", meaning late-20's). Everyone else we know who uses FB is our age (mid-50's) and older. When the kids were younger, it seems like all the people we knew were on FB and it was used for everythi...

Re: My Growth Rings with Scott Markwood

Russ, I lucked out and found the complete GWG II, with some grinding wheels. It was listed on Craigslist in VA Beach (too far to drive). I contacted the owner to see about having my buddy who lives in Norfolk meet up with him, pay, and get the item for me. By the time we finished our call the seller...
