Re: A Slow Boat To Nowhere

Like a freshly refurbed and painted SS it is pretty, but one does not go to all that effort to gaze upon it only! The pleasure comes from using it and acquiring scars therefrom. Happy splashing!!! I totally agree. Some of the best times in my life were in Quebec hunting Moose. 100 miles north of Ch...

My latest to the stable, I pulled the spindle pulley, needed to replace it do to a large part of the larger diam part is missing and did not want the off balance/vibration. Re: Today in the shop (Umbrella Light)

Walmart sells something very similar called a tent light over in the sporting section. Didn't get to examine it much my wife told me I was done shopping and to meet her by check out :( If that were my wife, she would not yet have arrived at checkout a half hour later. Fortunately my wife...

Re: Free Standing SS Drill press

If you build it like this you will get a lot of floor space back and still be able to roll it around. Nice work John! As ERLover mentioned, does the base ever get in the way of your feet? I may mount mine facing the other way. I'll probably need a little ballast on the bench tubes to keep it from t...

Re: How do you heat your shop?

OK, there are chemical conversions but the humidity is 19% in my house tonight with the open flame NG furnace on. How does that equate? John I dont know what you mean as an open flame furnace. I am going by a manual for fossil fuel power plants that use up to a million lbs of air, it does not say w...

Re: Free Standing SS Drill press

Nice work! I am considering a permanent wall mount SS drill press and I could adapt this design to try it out for a while. My SS drill press is a full size Shopsmith that has not left drill press mode since I brought it home a few years ago from a craigslist sale. I could reclaim a lot of floor spa...

Bruce,

If you want one it could be arranged if you come to Utah. Refurbished for actual cost and a few bucks.
It's a short 17 hour drive for me. Anything around there to see?
Plenty of things to see.

Re: How do you heat your shop?

Jet fuel is just fancy kerosene. You can see all the water when a jet passes overhead and leaves con(densation)trails behind. However, I would be more concerned with carbon monoxide from a torpedo heater. Mike Do you know how much air a jet engine sucks in? It is a huge amount and that air is also ...

Re: How do you heat your shop?

Just look at a chimney when the furnace is running in the winter and you can see the water vapor. High efficient furnaces that use the pvc piping for exhaust also plus they have a condensate drain off of the heat exchanger. Just happen to have my Combustion Engineering Inc had book here with me at ...
