Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

It appears that there is only 1 miter slot on the table. The Magna Logo is not painted like the production ones as seen on my restored 1956 Bandsaw shown below. Good catch on those additional features missing from the mock-up bandsaw! The mock-up also appears to lack some of the top/bottom symmetry...

That was my observation as well. Can’t really see enough detail in the image of the belt sander to tell whether there are any obvious prototype features on that one as well.

Re: Who won the auction for the Power-Mount Adapter Kit?

why would I not also be willing to pay an outrageous amount for something that I may never see come up for sale again? I hear ya… At the same time, I’m always amazed how frequently they still pop up on Craigslist! I acquired two sets (one with a broken pulley extension :( ) over the last two years ...

Re: 1954 Shopsmith Dealer Manual Contents

Flash-in-the-Magna-Line?! One last note on the “Thrift Three” - they don’t appear to have stuck around long… A July 1957 dealer reference mentions these low-end Magna-Line options, referring to them as “MAGNA-LINE TRAFFIC TOOLS ”. I’m assuming that’s another way to kindly describe products at a low...

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

I'm guessing the person you bought it from wasn't selling it for $2.50. I wish… Let’s say it’s appreciated a bit since the presumed Montgomery Ward clearance sale! I’ll have to do some inventory sometime to see which super-rare item for which I’ve overpaid has effectively appreciated the most.

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

Mounting Base - Goldie Version Here's an example of a Mounting Base (part number 91 000) that of course is used to hold an SPT when not mounted on your Shopsmith. This was lightly used, but still has really nice copper coloring from the Goldie color scheme. I find the Montgomery Ward price tag on t...

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

Cut-Off Wheel, or Grinding Wheel? I did feature this in another thread, but wanted to include it here too. There have been a couple of the early, red-sleeved [part number] 175-1 cut-off wheels shared in this thread, but this appears to be some “ new ” packaging after Magna switched to the “12-xxx” ...
