Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

Shopsmith in a Can! For anyone who has acquired a older vintage Shopsmith machine (Model 10-ER or Mark 5), you might be lucky enough to get a cool old box of stuff that's fun to rummage through - you never know what you might come up with! I'm always surprised at the number of " consumable &qu...

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

Putting a Face to the Name: The Other Magna Authors A lot of us are familiar with the 10-part Woodworking Course that was first created in 1956, and helped users adopt the revolutionary Mark 5. . IMG_3244.jpeg IMG_3245.jpeg We may also be familiar with the fact that it was penned by a San Jose Stat...

I think the timeline for end of support was about the time they ran out of most parts necessary...

Can you say more about this?? Was this for your PP2, and if so, you had to return the whole headstock for this, or just the electronic interface?

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

I wanted to show some of my advertisement Dale - thanks for sharing, and contributing to the thread! Do you have a picture you could share of the back of the Special Miter Gauge sheet? I haven’t seen that version, and I’m curious if that came from Magna American Corporation , or Shopsmith, Inc. ? A...

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

Sandpaper - Through the Years While I find the disc sanding feature to be one of my very favorite features of a Shopsmith, it’s pretty clear America bought an awful lot of sandpaper back in the day that it never used! Maybe it was evidence of what a pain it was to change sheets before the days of s...

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!

Something to know about the 12" Aluminum Sanding disks is there were two versions of the six ribbed Sanding Disk as seen in the pictures below. The earlier version, on the left, is heavier. Russ - thanks for sharing! What’s the provenance that confirmed for you that the heavier disc is Magna-m...
