Re: GE 1 1/8 motor hums, shaft tries to turn

The topic of this thread matches my situation almost exactly, so rather than start a new thread, decided to just ask my questions here. I took my 1980's vintage motor apart to blow out accumulated saw dust and now it won't start. I removed the floating sheave as well, which I normally don't do, to g...

Below is a link showing some kerfed lining for sale by a guitar building mater...

Re: New to site and shopsmith

Regarding your question about determining age, the Shopsmith site can help you figure that out based on serial number, found on the vent plate at left end of headstock. Under the Maintenance and Repair section of the forum are a couple of topics that are "stickies" and stay at the top of t...

Re: thickness planner

There is a thread about converting to a hand crank. Mine is manual and I like it. It allows you to control the feed rate which I like. I will see if I can find the thread ..... Found it .... http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/maintenance-and-repair-f10/can-a-12-planer-w-o-feed-motor-be-converted-to-...

Re: Engraving Guidelines in 500 Main Table Top

I would be more concerned with WHY the rip fence is unpredictable. Now, it usually does square up, but once upon a time it usually didn't, and I was having to measure from a miter slot (or even less accurately, from edge of table) to the fence at front and rear to ensure it was parallel to blade. I...
