SS overarm router setup to make bow tie/butterfly inlays

The task make 20 butterfly inlays and route sockets to receive the inlays. With 40 machine operations I thought the quickest and easiest way would be to set up the overarm router. The first step was to make a bow tie template and rout the inlays. I was concerned it wouldn't make it thru 40 operation...

Re: Walking Cane repair & length adjustment

Great job Glenn! Inquiring minds want to know, what is that laser looking gadget on your Mk V and what is it used for? Jack I am not sure what the question is but it is an off the shelf lazier level. Just a tool to be used any way you can think of. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=laser+level&crid=32...

Walking Cane repair & length adjustment

One of my coffee buddies asked me to repair and adjust the length of a broken cane for his wife to use. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=adjusting+cane+height He said it was a very expensive cane and made of rosewood. I don't think it was rosewood. It may be ibe or some other tropical ha...

Splayed miter picture frame

It started with a question that sounded like a statement. But first some background. Around our house when the spring cleaning bug hits the redecorating gene also surfaces. The question/statement - With all that expensive fancy woodworking machines you can make me a plain shadow box picture frame ri...

Re: Time for another potpourri thread?

We just discovered on line grocery shopping. Go online order grocery's, set pickup time, call pickup number, they bring grocery order and put them in the car smile say thank you and leave. Amazon will deliver to your door you don't even have to smile and say thank you. How cool is that.

Shopsmith Woodworking Tips #115 Cam Clamps

Shopsmith Woodworking Tips #115 https://www.shopsmith.com/woodshoptips/tips/050304/index.htm While on my garage sale rounds I run across a dumpster in front of a home remodel and found what appears to be solid maple countertop cutoffs (P1). The first step was to drill holes or the inside curve of th...

Shop built dust collector blast gates

Quite some time ago I installed a used 2hp Harbor Freight dust collector using 4in drain pipe without blast gates. It worked ok but wasn't very efficient. I used the ring master to make the flanges (P1). There wasn't sufficient clearance to use the ringmaster on the main body. So I set up a drill pr...
