Re: Advice on cleaning out a woodworking shop?

Steve and Russ, Thanks for your feedback and your sympathies. Yes, an estate sale might be the best overall option. I was kind of holding it in the back of my mind as a last resort too, but may have to go this route. It will likely be 6-12 months before I can get out there with COVID-19, etc. By the...

Advice on cleaning out a woodworking shop?

Sadly my father-in-law passed away recently. He got into woodworking in retirement for enjoyment but also sold a small quantity of his products at craft fairs which brought him a lot of joy. There are a few of his tools that I want to hang onto, but I am looking to sell the rest so that the proceeds...

Re: Sketchup Pro

At $299/yr wouldn't it pay to just buy the license for $695 and be done with it unless you don't plan on using it beyond 2 years. I don't think the perpetual license for $695 gets support indefinitely. They may fix bugs for a brief time on it, but eventually I believe you have to opt into the annua...

Re: Sketchup Pro

Yeah, what is not clear to me is what happens to the free download versions from the past, e.g. if you have the 2017 SketchUp Maker version (free download) will it continue to work? Is it just that support (bug fixes) will stop for the free download version, or are they going to phase out the free v...

Re: Sketchup Pro

I thought the base package of SketchUp was still free but you now have to access it online (no local copy install of the software). If you want to work offline and/or need the added features of the higher level packages like the Pro edition, etc. then you have to pay on a yearly subscription model n...

Re: Magnifying/Lighted Headband

Alan, Thanks. I hadn't seen this one before and it definitely looks interesting. If you figure out the headband tension problem let us know. It looks like a good option and very affordable. My solution is nothing unique, but I found these impact resistance safety glasses that I like. It comes with a...

Re: Shopsmith Dust Collector Options

This thread may be of interest. I do believe the DC330L is just a re-branded Rikon model dust collector, i.e. Shopsmith doesn't manufacture it.

Re: A Slow Boat To Nowhere

Alan,

OH NO!!!! Well it is still a gorgeous boat and the repair looks good. Glad you are okay after this mishap. I hope I can get around to building a wood boat with my Shopsmith some day. Also good to see that you are still getting good use out of this canoe.

Re: Wild Turkey Problem (not the drink)

I have no practical experience with wild turkeys, but you might want to start with some of the deterrent type of products. I have used bird spikes and other products with some success on other nuisance birds around my property. The link below might be a starting point for you with regard to wild tur...
