Aha! I wondered why no one had mentioned the dog face. I guess you just had to know old Tucker in order to see him in the bowl.

Re: Are you new to Shopsmith?
Yep, I reckon that 9-1/4” is a fairly short cut.

Yup. With a Shopsmith, you can fixture just about anything, to anything else. And if you can’t, you can use it to make the necessary fixture!chapmanruss wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 12:55 pm Another example of how the Shopsmith can be used in less common ways to solve a problem in completing a task.

Re: Glue-joining of Cutoff Pieces for Lumber Recovery
I'm curious, David. Did the glue in the finger joint fail, or did the fingers break off? It seems to me that the weak points would be at the ends of the fingers. Because the fingers don't taper to a sharp point, there's a fairly large percentage of the wood that's basically just in a butt-joint conf...

Hoping to clear up a misperception
In another thread this morning, forum member RFGuy expressed his belief that "most of the forum doesn't want me here". I have no clue why he believes that, as I've always enjoyed his posts. Plus I've always wanted to try creating one of these poll threads, and it seemed like an expedient w...

Re: Rustic cherry bowl
Since when is 'rustic' bad for a wooden bowl? Are you sure it is thick enough? ;>} Waal now, I never said that rustic was bad . It just wasn't what I expected from that cherry log. And let me tell you, I was plenty glad that the bowl wasn't wafer-thin when it popped out of the Cole jaws, crashed on...

Re: Rustic cherry bowl
Holy cow that brand is loooooong! Dennis, the bowl looks great! Can't wait to see the inside! I want to try my hand at turning some bowls in the new year. Thanks Al! You really should give it a go. Learning to use lathe tools efficiently is a challenge, and I'm not very far up the learning curve. F...

Re: Rustic cherry bowl
Despite the wood being rustic, the bowl turned out pretty well. I attempted a bit of rim detail for the first time, and was pleased with how it turned out. My daughter apparently agreed, as the bowl is now the centerpiece of her dining table. :) Arranged LowRes.JPG But did I mention that there's a d...

Rustic cherry bowl
They say that you never know what you'll find inside of a bowl blank until you start turning it. Well, my most recent bowl blank was from the same cherry log that I sliced up into tree cookies , as part of the table decor for my youngest daughter's wedding a couple of years ago. When her birthday ro...
