Re: Curious about prices
Here in Colorado it's $500-$1000 for a 500 with a SPT or two. I bottom fish for basket cases, I got a 500 with bandsaw and jointer for $200 but it spent the spring outside and there was lots of rust. I am seeing an interest in hand tools by the Millinials because they don't have enough space for pow...

Re: Snapped Band Saw Tire
There is a major Modzilla hacking opening that was just discovered in the last few days. Mozilla users are supposed to upload the security update immediately. Maybe that's why you're seeing the link? Just to follow on with a previous discussion: If you hoover over the words "woodworking bench&q...

Re: Green Scroll Saw - Blade Change Upgrade
Very welcome! Re the air tube; looks as if you can cut it down and crimp the end and it'll be the same as the new version.

Re: Scroll Saw blade mounting fixture replaced by upgrade?
Glad the info is useful. I never had the blade fixture, the seller didnt have it when he bought it used. Without the blade fixture I struggled to get everything right. Combine that with never having used a scroll saw before and I was stuck. Looking at modern scroll saws I noted that none of them had...

Re: Scroll Saw blade mounting fixture replaced by upgrade?
I went back and looked more closely and I think the full upgrade kit really isn't necessary. The new blade blocks are all you really need (555708). The new hold down design isn't better, it's just lower cost to manufacturer. I would remove the rear blade support and use the existing hold down. Then ...

Re: First service 1986 Model 500
I replaced the bearings with sealed in my 1986 motor around 1998. The rear shielded bearing was dry and wailing but it didn't disintegrate. I replaced all the other bearings in the headstock earlier this year. None of them were sealed, they are now.
