Help Me Identify This Miter Gauge
Please help me identify this if you can. Last year I bought a 1982 Mark V that had been retrofitted to be a Model 510. It came with an oddball miter gauge that works fine. The bar fits the table slot and has the disc to engage the t-slot feature. It also has the expandable slot in the bar like the S...

Re: Arbor For Sanding Drum?
Perfect. Thanks! My local Ace hardware store has a whole aisle of bushings, bearings and oddball fasteners. I'll see what I can find there, otherwise McMaster will be my next step.

Arbor For Sanding Drum?
I have the 2-5/16" diameter sanding drum that fits on the shafts of my Mark-V. I would also like to use it on my stand-alone drill press that has a 1/2" chuck. Does anyone know of a 5/8" to 1/2" stepped arbor I could obtain to accomplish this? . . . or something easily modified f...

Re: Just Finished My First Shopsmith Project
Gratitude for the caring answers! I think it ended up good overall. The top is somewhat not the same as I anticipated. I wanted to simply adjust the top and base edges a little yet the switch bit sneaked through the collet and cut pretty profound. I have 40 year old switch with a to some degree cor...

Re: Just Finished My First Shopsmith Project
Thanks again for the kind words! My Shopsmith seems to have developed a slight scraping noise related to the fan sheave. Looking at some posts in the maintenance section of the forum, I think it might be time for some disassembly and maybe adding a thin washer behind the sheave. Then on to the next ...

Re: Just Finished My First Shopsmith Project
Thanks, Russ! I got the construction idea from an old 1950s hi-fi cabinet I bought at a thrift shop back in the 1980s. I also built a nightstand that way back in the '90s. We still use the nightstand as well. It's sturdy too. The nightstand and end table could probably double as jack stands when I w...

Re: Just Finished My First Shopsmith Project
Thanks for the kind replies! I think it turned out okay. The top is a little different than I planned for. I planned to just round the top and bottom edges a little but the router bit slipped in the collet and cut pretty deep. I have 40 year old router with a somewhat rusty collet nut. Once I cleane...

Just Finished My First Shopsmith Project
I made a maple end table. I only used my recently acquired 1980's Shopsmith equipment for my stationary power tools . . . my Mk V table saw, disc sander, drum sander, drill press, jointer and bandsaw. I was thinking about using the lathe to make my own knobs, but I didn't have the right stock on han...

Re: Floating Router Table
Very nice. I am planning to make a router table that will fit on my Shopsmith dedicated drill press instead of a standard table. That would give me both under table and overhead routing capability. So I'm interested in any details on table construction in general and mounting the router if you have...

Floating Router Table
I just completed a floating router table for my 510 and I thought I'd post a couple of pictures in case it might give ideas to others. I made it from some 3/4" lauan veneered plywood I had lying around. I had extra four extra floating table type rip fence mounting tubes that came with the machi...
