Re: Informal Poll - Size of your Shop and how many Shopsmiths?
As I mentioned previously, my shop is still in progress so I'm stuck using the lathe in the basement until the snow clears. Here's my before and after though. The pic with the lean-to looking shed was when we first moved in. Other pic is current, with the free shed off Facebook marketplace, which wi...

Re: Informal Poll - Size of your Shop and how many Shopsmiths?
I guess following your criteria I have a medium shop, but it's small to me. <320 square ft., and currently no Shopsmiths in the shop as I'm having concrete poured in it come spring. My rebuilt 10er is in the basement being used, my second project ER is in the garage, and my newly acquired third ER i...

Re: 10ER rebuild
Somewhere near the beginning of my restoration I had noticed a tab was broken off the headstock under the quill return spring housing. Today I decided to do something about it, as I was uncomfortable relying on just one tab, and in horizontal mode I was getting rather large wood chips settling on to...

Looks like a decent amount of stuff there for $150, but really crappy pic.

Re: Grinder guard work in progress
Here's after I bent the sheet metal around the bottom bolt. That made it more secure, as well as shortened up the length so that I could slip in a wheel or wire brush from the front with no disassembly. I'm going to pick up a piece of plexiglass today and fix it to the top bolt, which I'll switch to...

Re: Grinder guard work in progress
I cut a 1 1/2 hole in the center of one guard, set it over the collar and hammered it flat around it. Then I drilled and tapped the collar, not getting to close to the split or recesses for the bolt. Now just to drill through the guard and bolt it all together. After I mount the inside guard to the ...

On Ebay! 4E Jointer, Henge Plate and Headrest by the same seller. I might have posted this in the wrong place earlier. Dave V. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shopsmith-10er-jointer/312436911387?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shopsmith-10er-jointer-...

Re: RE: Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
The idea of mounting the Model 4E Jointer on a stand instead of the Model 10E or 10ER as being an afterthought is interesting. The Base/Out-feed table already had the 3 mounting holes used to mount it to the table as shown in the manual. There is no other apparent use for those holes. The 4E Jointe...
