Here is a post from 2008 where I was dealing with some similar issues and how I solved them:

I don't know how to classify the material but it crumbles more like particle board then MDF and like wise I don't like it very well.

Racoon shows up again, I know boring but then the second video is a really funny chase scene of a squirrel chasing a rabbit........ grand prix style in the back yard. Skip the first if you want but the second is really something that you just don't see unless you are very lucky or have a game camera...

Loosen A then rotate and watch B and you will see movement. See if that helps on the upper end.

My guess is that the big black arm is not aligned correctly so take a look at where it attaches below the table to see if it can be corrected by this adjustment.
