Re: Near miss: foolish mistake

I’m currently taking a woodworking class at Palomar College and last week while we were in the shop one of the shop staff said “ There are only two times a woodworker rushes, just before an accident and right after one!” It seems that rushing makes us bypass safety measures and awareness.

Re: Drop leaf table supports

Looking at the table in the orientation seen in that photo, you could put 3 or 4 small metal wall brackets across the top and the same across the bottom situated such that you could slide a bar (hardwood or metal bar stock) through to support both drop leaves. These bars would function similar to th...

Re: My Growth Rings videos

I am thrilled to hear and know you got your jointer cleaned up, and in proper and safe working order! By the way, the gauge Scott used to set the jointer knives. I think it's called the Snap-Check Plus? I bought one, and it works great for that purpose. It's so much easier than the ruler method. Th...

Re: My Growth Rings videos

Chad, I certainly appreciate all that you’ve been doing to make sure Scott’s videos are posted. When I visit the forum I always look to see if new videos have been posted for Scott, Nick, Stumpy Nubs, and Ron’s collection. Being new to both ShopSmith and finer woodworking Nick and Scott’s videos hav...

Re: windows 11

Yes, Microsoft has adopted the Apple OS update model and now limits its backward compatibility as they move forward. This is both good and bad. The bad is, obviously, that people will need to upgrade their computers and peripherals more often. But the good is that OS security can be more easily main...

Re: Disappointed in ShopSmith Winter Closeout

I had exactly the same experience, and the same thoughts about some of those ridiculously low prices. I assumed that were really trying to get rid of that stock. I also order fairly frequently from them.

Re: Timeliness of Shopsmith

We ordered two arts and craft style leather recliners last summer and although the normal time to ship had been 3 months they told us because of Covid it was taking 4 months. They were finally delivered a little over six months after we ordered them. The cause was a shortage in dense foam. Both Covi...

Re: Will Be Inactive for awhile

If all else fails, if you have data on the SSD that you don’t want to lose, then don’t wipe and reload the OS on that drive. Get a new drive and reinstall the OS to the new drive, then you can connect to the old drive and copy your old data to the new drive. All Dells have a restore partition that w...

Re: Will Be Inactive for awhile

I used to use a Surface 4 as my primary computer; they are sweet little machines. Being a support tech needing to remote into multiple servers and network computers, while monitoring network traffic logs, I needed much more screen space than that little tablet screen was even close to providing. I u...
