I notice you have the sliding outer guard all the way in next to the blade. That is not how you should have it set. It's more likely that the stabilizer is the culprit, but you should move the outer guard out away from the blade, but only to the point that it will not interfere with lowering the tab...

I would definitely ask to speak to a technician in addition to customer support.
