Re: Power pro problems and no response from SS

I had a couple of set work loose in the past. What I did is put a small amount of RTV on the threads of the set screw and let it cure. Then re-install the screw, the RTV will hold the set screw ok and you can loosen the set screw several times before renewing the RTV. I think that the rapid switchi...

Rust

Probably many of you will already have this figured out, but I thought I'd share some recent findings: I'd been having issues with my Pro Planer for a while and it was getting worse. It was ending up that I was literally having to force the piece through the planer with a long push stick and even th...

Re: Power pro problems and no response from SS

I had this problem many years ago, with the bandsaw coupler. I tried Loctite and a new coupler, but still that sucker came loose! I contacted SS and spoke with Wes (at that time) which eventually resulted in a phone call and instructions on how to adjust the PowerPro software for over/undershoot. If...

Re: Dust collection

My problem with using 3 inch tubing is that it would cost quite a lot to convert from 4 inch to 3 inch then back to 4 inch, along with the 2 inch? fittings for the smaller take-offs. I already have the 4 inch fittings and branches.

Dust collection

I've had a Shopsmith DC for many years and it still works fine. I want to distribute dust collection round the shop, so some time back I bought the 4 inch outlet which fits the front of the DC. I'm going to run 4 inch plastic tube round the shop with 45 degree branches and blast gates for the Mk7 an...

Re: Power pro problems and no response from SS

The set-screw loosening problem is probably due to a setting in the computer software. I can't find my original instructions right now, so you'd probably be best telephoning Shopsmith direct. Try asking for Wes, if he still works there. He was most helpful fixing this issue, which is caused by under...

I must admit that I'm thinking of acquiring another set of castors to fit on my Pro Planer. I presume that's the same fitting as the Power Stand.

If you have the castors, I may contact you Bill.

Not 'ambiguous' so much as easily confused. All are tricky! Ambiguity, in that in at least one case you are asked to draw a line through two different figures, with others in between. A line to me is a single line, unbroken, not 2 separate lines, which is presumably what they require, otherwise you...

An easy 100%. And I'm glad things are as they are rather than as they were in 1964. Here's a literacy test from then. http://www.crmvet.org/info/la-littest.pdf What a joke. So many ambiguities in it and I thought it was a literacy test, but it seems to concentrate a lot on mathematical skills. :)

FWIW I recently got off the phone with one of the helpful guys at Shopsmith. Although he could easily have sold me a new drilling jig (metal bar with roll pin and drill) he suggested an alternative method which will work. Raise the existing castors so that the SS legs are firmly on the ground. Remov...
