Re: Shorty Drill Press not perpendicular to floor, any ideas?
If you unlock it will the way tube assembly go all the way back to the point you want? Is something preventing it from moving that far besides the lock? This is what I was going to suggest looking at. The OP's machine is tilting in the wrong direction. If he were to flip the headstock and table bac...

Re: RAS safety I might be wrong ??
I don't understand the part about "climb" up out of the cut. How does the saw move upwards? If this were a sliding miter saw I could understand that happening because the blade is mounted on a lever arm, but on a RAS it slides on the rail at a fixed height over the table. I've never had t...

Re: RAS safety I might be wrong ??
No problem , a lot of folks still use the saw the wrong way ,a few are missing fingers , in fact purdue has a website that describes the operation . and I totally disagree with their opinion as well , https://www.purdue.edu/woodresearch/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/safearmsaw.pdf , with over 45 years...

Re: RAS safety I might be wrong ??
I have not used a radial arm saw much but I was taught to pull the blade through the wood. I am surprised to hear you can push it. I don't understand why pulling the blade through the wood is called a 'climb cut'. What is the 'climbing' part about? When crosscutting on the RAS, if the wrong blade i...

Re: RAS safety I might be wrong ??
The proper way to crosscut on a radial arm saw is to pull the saw through the board using a blade with a zero, or negative hook. The saw must be set up correctly, that is, the blade must be square to the fence and table, with no healing. The blade normally puts downward force on the wood, and also ...

Re: Tablesaw Power feed
What is the advantage of buying an old, rusted out Rip-Strate from eBay over buying a new Jessem CLEAR-CUT TS™ STOCK GUIDES ? I mean I know there is a cost difference, but the Jessem is still in production and fully supported. I watched a video on the Jessem CLEAR-CUT TS™ STOCK GUIDES and they look...

Re: Tablesaw Power feed
I see they have some on eBay. I think I could use something like this for longer boards. I don't know often long boards will be an issue though. I have a Sawsmith 2000 now, just beginning to use it, it has a quite long fence, close to 3 ft. and I think this will help too. But if I end with a lot of...

Re: Tablesaw Power feed
I'd been thinking about something like this for safety reasons...low and behold they already exist ! Here is a low cost kit to provide motor feed to a tablesaw/router or shaper. Anyone have experience with something like this? I'd guess they get in the way for non standard cuts, or in this case may...
