Re: OLDER SHOPSMITH

Steve, If you have a Model 10E or 10ER like the one shown in the first picture of my previous post keep in mind they have not been made since the end of 1953. That being said many of the current Shopsmith accessories will still fit it. The Model 10's have the same size reverse tapered 5/8" Spin...

Re: New Owner

Adding the access hole behind the logo plate on the back side of the Headstock can be done by marking the hole diameter and drilling holes around the diameter leaving a spot for the logo covers pins as seen below on the "B" Headstock in the picture. This is the same spot that the pins of t...

Re: New Owner

OlympicFail, I hope I haven't discouraged you about your Shopsmith purchase. Some of yesterday's comments I made are for future readers of this topic to help them better understand what to look for when considering buying a Shopsmith Mark 5/V. The link below is to a PDF from Shopsmith titled Buying ...

Re: New Owner

Serial number 288846 was made in January 1955. It is an "A" Headstock which, unless modified, doesn't have the removable rear logo plate to access the Idler Shaft Sheeve and back of the Speed Control Assembly for lubrication. It's the main downside of the "A" Headstock itself. Un...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

Ed, David and HopefulSSer, The 2006 Model 505 I bought a few years ago did have the locks installed on the Main and Extension Tables even though it had no Floating Tables and related parts. Simply ready to go for that 510 upgrade. :D John, Not a bargain but an interesting display model at 15" W...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

As David said, it isn't a Mark 7, and you can't really tell what you're getting from the pictures. But at least a 505 with PowerPro, Belt Sander, and Jointer and all looks to be in good condition. The value of it is hyped up especially since it isn't a Mark 7, but a Power Pro upgraded Mark V 505 as ...

Re: What parts are compatible on 500, 510, 520

tprowood, Not all sellers of used Shopsmith parts understand the differences between the Mark V Models and therefore tend to list the part from the model it came from. Even then they don't always label them correctly. Sometimes it is more important to know what year it was made when looking for Mark...

Re: Dado blades

Kevin, Like JPG I'm not sure what you are referring to as a center dial indicator for your Model 10ER. Are you referring to the angled center hubs that set the width of cut on the Wobble Dado Blade? As for the Dado Blades there were two types made back in the Model 10era. The 8" Wobble Dado Bla...

Re: Speed changer rpms

I also agree it would be nice to have a PDF copy of the last chart. I have not seen that one before which appears to have come out after the Model 10ER was discontinued. Note it says Magna Power Tool Corporation not Magna Engineering Corporation. Below is a PDF replica of the Speed Chart DarrenDD po...
