Re: New member, not sure where to start.

Ron, thanks for the tip. I want one, worth considering for sure. I may need to create a Facebook account to monitor this. Thanks for sharing. It would be great for someone to make a replacement rack that bolts to the tubes to move the headstock, one of mine is broken. Mike JPG, good point about the ...

Re: New member, not sure where to start.

Ok, its back together and running great forward and reverse using the original switch, except for power wires. Can hear the centrifugal switch clicking off when powering down. Going to put the motor back into the headstock this weekend, then start thinking about the switch. The shrink tubing worked ...

Re: New member, not sure where to start.

Yes, I understand and any help will be appreciated. I did think about the possibility of accidentally passing by the off position while the motor was still running. I am not set on that switch, it was just one that I found and thought it looked like it had potential. It may actually be better to get...

Re: New member, not sure where to start.

I will ask more questions if I ever get to the switch fix. I was just trying to figure out if the windings were still good. Yes, I understand about the shrink tubing. I have been looking for some on Amazon, a lot of them have glue inside, but I think the glue would melt so I am looking for some with...

Re: New member, not sure where to start.

JPG , a couple questions. You said the Taiss 12 terminal switch may work, but then you added (single pole). What do you mean? Do I need a double pole switch? Also, I get continuity across the black and white (run winding) but the red wire has no continuity with any other wire. Does that mean the st...

Re: New member, not sure where to start.

DLB, thanks, I did see his ebay repair but he does not mention repair of the winding leads. I may contact him anyway and ask as the motor repair places around here tend to work on large industrial motors. Maybe I could just ship him the motor casing and windings? RPD, thanks as well. My switch didn...

Re: New member, not sure where to start.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. So I took the switch apart and I learned a lot reading through the info here. Basically, a couple of the contacts in the switch were gone, and the connectors were a little loose in the plastic housing, which probably created some arcing. I created new conta...

New member, not sure where to start.

Hi, new member here looking for some advice. I have had my dad's old Mark VII sitting in my basement for nearly 20 years now. I used it a lot when my dad was alive. About 5 years ago I tried to use it, but the motor just hummed and wouldn't turn. I think it even smoked a bit before I shut it off. I ...
