Re: Shopsmith Christmas catalog

The new Excalibur scroll saws are made in China and have issues.

I'm currently in the market for a new scroll saw. The one at the top of my list is Pegas.

Re: SC Johnson Paste Wax

Paste wax is wax dissolved in a solvent. Stoddard solvent is used in Johnson's Paste Wax. The first thing that comes to my mind is to leavel the lid off and see if it evaporates. Re: Those irksome cut-offs-what to do !

Do you have any suggestions on easiest ways to dimension something like this ? b It depends on what you will do with them and, of course, what dimensions you want. I will use my miter saw, or Shopsmith table saw if I want ...

It is heavy and dense and the dark piece cut so smooth the person that gave it to me thought it might be plastic.

I'm pretty sure it is ipe.

Re: What kind of wood is this?

Black Locust - It sure does look like the photos in the Wood Database Wenge - I don't think this would be a match. The end grain looks different. Katalox - I only have one dark board. I'm guessing heartwood. The end grain is different. Rosewood - I don't notice any smell when I cut it, and it does n...

What kind of wood is this?

Would you guess what kind of wood this is? This is hardwood flooring. It's old, heavy, and hard. Used 80-grit sandpaper will barely scratch it. This is a slice off the end of the only used and darkest piece. 2022-08-20 20.35.49.jpg The same piece with a little mineral oil on it. 2022-08-20 20.38.12....

Re: Wax on - Was Off

Mineral spirits will remove Johnson's Paste Wax. Real mineral sprits, not the fake green stuff.

Paint thinner works too, it is less refined mineral spirits. It is also cheaper.
