Jointer knife replacement

I just replaced my jointer knives with new ones purchased from SS. I am not real happy with the results. I get a lot of vibration with the new knives and sometimes a little tear out at the end of the board. Any tips on installing and aligning the jointer blades? I did a search in this SS forum and f...

Dust collector motor

I have been using a DC3300 for several years. Recently the motor only hummed when I turned it on. Last week I disassembled the DC3300 and cleaned all the fine dust from around the motor. The motor shaft did not turn unless i started it with my hand. I finally sprayed some dry silicon on the shaft an...

Thanks Rob,
I put on the 72 1/2" blade and it works fine. I have to play with the tension because I'm getting some ripples on the end of some scrap lumber

Bandsaw blade

Out of necessity, I had to buy a bandsaw blade for my 11" shopsmith bandsaw from a local hardware vendor. At the time I wasn't sure of the length of the blade. So I bought a 72 1/2" blade that is 1/2" wide with 3tpi. After I got home I reviewed the manual that came with my bandsaw and...

Weight solution in drill press mode

I have a 10er configured in the drill press mode exclusively. The main problem is moving the motor up and down the way tubes when changing the distance between the drill bit and workpiece. I solved the problem by purchasing a 2 ton bottle jack (about $15) and place it between the motor and carriage....

SS in lathe configuration

I have been using my SS model 520 in the lathe configuration for several days putting quite a few hours on the headstock. I generally turn in the slow speeds and sand in the F speed on the speed dial. Does this harm the headstock in any way? Should I be oiling any particular area more often than reg...

Kreg clamping system

Bob I have several of the Kregg clamps and one of their tables. I have 2 that I adapted to use in my bench by cutting 3/4 inch bolts off at the head and tapping them for a 5/16 rod to attach the clamps. They are my favorite bench accessories. Not sure I would like the large metal plate in the one y...

Has anyone used this clamping system from Kreg. I got this system and wondered if anyone has any good or bad comments. Go to http://www.kregtool.com/HeavyDuty-Bench ... dview.html to see the product.

JPG...there is not a huge distance between the crosscut sled and the saw blade, I would say it's about 1/2" to 3/4" and yes I know the depth of the cross cut table. Looking at Dusty's setup really made me see that all I have to do is add the auxillary cut off accessory to the left of the b...
