The relay should be function in all positions. Mine is noisy, but functions, in all positions. See motor images in entry #103 When NEW Yes! Neither yours NOR Bill's are new! The constant 'clicking' concerns me. Reminds me of an old fashioned door bell/buzzer. Such action will eventually erode the c...

I didn't recall seeing any recent article in Popular Woodworking by Nick, however after doing a bit of research and going through some of my past issues, I finally found the story - the February 2007 issue. Here is a link to it for all that are interested. http://www.popularwoodworking.com/article/...

I think the router table on sale is for the old free standing OPR. I have a couple of the old ones and really enjoy them. If you needed to replace the table on one of the old ones this would be a great deal. I also have a couple of the under table router tops that SS offers or offered. They fit on ...

That is why there is a weak spring. When I did use it as a drill press, I had to bang on the motor pan sometimes to get the motor to start. With the motor on the bench, depending on the motor position, you can get the relay to chatter or not work at all. I only use the 3/4 HP with with this relay f...

Is the table on sale the old OPR table???? SS describes it as "tops for Shopsmith's original free standing router system (1990's predecessor of today's Over Pin Router)." 18" x 30" X 1 1/16" PIx "B,C" sure does look like top picture. I realize WHAT it says re 'pla...

Re: sluggish quill

On the top of the headstock is an allen head set screw (like MOST of the others). The hex 'hole' may be filled in with 'something'. Dig it out and back the screw off slightly to see if the herky jerky stops. This screw has a projection on the opposite end which rides in a groove on the top of the qu...

The current type starting relay uses a weak spring and gravity mostly to disconnect the start windings. Therefore the motor must be in the same position as the motor when it rests in the pan when testing on the bench. The relay has to be vertical mounted on the back of the motor to operate correctl...

I think it mounts to an Extension Table Base 504273 and is further supported by an Adjustable Table Leg. I don't have exactly this same table but rather the one pictured at the end of the advertisement (Items B,C). Yes, what Woodburner said. I am confused. I thought the table IS that pictured in &q...
