Re: Shopsmith Grey Paint
Yes I agree with BigAl On the gloss of the paint. My thought is they improved the quality of the paint. My machine was born in May of 1983. On the left side stand I have a band of rust right where it bolts to my machine. I figure that end was exposed to an open garage door or a shop door. That is th...

Re: Shopsmith Grey Paint
The repaint on my one stand came out awsome! I did the caster assembly as well. I used I full can of Rustolium Automotive Primer. The knocked it down with a scotch brite pad. I used 1 full can of Shopsmith paint on the one single stand and caster assembly. I am waiting for the paint to fully cure be...

Re: Wheelchair user/ lower way rail REMOVAL.
I just read the reply about mounting the machine down o a piece of material to keep the stand from splaying apart. EXCELLENT idea. That was my worry or thought. I think that maybe the best way to go on my first try. I also understand know about following the old ER set up then bench up the ends. Now...

Re: Wheelchair user/ lower way rail REMOVAL.
I understand what you all have stated. Thank You! Allow me to ask again. If I pull the one front bench rail out am I going to have problems in lathe operation only. I ask this because this would be a test to see how my body responds to turning with me sitting in a more neutral position. If I can tur...

Wheelchair user/ lower way rail REMOVAL.
Hello Fellow Geniuses, Some of you may know I use my Shopsmith Mark 5/500 as a lathe. I also turn sitting in my wheelchair. Things have got worse quickly. Bottom line…. I want to remove the bottom way rail from my machine. This way my legs will fit under the machine. Except for using my machine in d...

JOHNSON PASTE WAX
I just recently discovered that my beloved and trusted Johnson Paste Wax has been discontinued. I know there are many choices out there but I thought i would toss it down anyways and see what some have to say. I can’t ever remember NOT having a couple of cans good to go. Any solid recommendations? I...

Shopsmith Grey Paint
Hello Fellow Genius, I have a Mark 5 500 born in 1983. I have decided to pull the leg stands off and repaint them. The only rust on my machine is at the top of each leg when they bolt up to the machine. Is the Grey paint that Shopsmith sells close to the original color? Last, considering that I will...

Re: Jointer disassembly
Thanks Russ & Brenda. Tomorrow they are tucking me away in the hospital for at least a week. They had to find room. I think I played Shopsmith dude a bit too long and things pulled apart. I SHALL RETURN! Better and stronger. I will NEVER STOP! Thank You! Not one bit of duct tape on my dust colle...

Jointer disassembly
Hello fellow Geniuses, I am ready to pull my jointer off and take it apart and clean it. I just received my new knives from SS today. Russ has been helping me but I can’t locate the drawings/diagrams/instructions he referred me to. I am also dealing with a nasty brain issue that is resulting in extr...
