Re: 20 Amp Safety Switch for C Series Headstocks

Dusty, The fellow at the service center called me and was unable to find a single DeWalt that crossed over to this switch, and I went back to look at the original post I made originally just after leaving their shop. I wrote in my post that I went to the "local service center that repairs my De...

Re: 20 Amp Safety Switch for C Series Headstocks

Quality may be an issue with less expensive switches. I'll given up some $$$ to feel like I got a quality switch. Do you by chance know the part number for the Eaton switch (either the Eaton PN or the DeWalt Part Number). Sorry for the delay Dusty. I had to wait to call them this morning. They said...

20 Amp Safety Switch for C Series Headstocks

I have read a number of posts about the Shopsmith Safety Switch used in the C Headstocks, and only recently had to replace one. I walked into our local service center that repairs my DeWalt, Milwaukee and many other corded and cordless power tools and asked for a switch like the one in my hand. I di...

It's suffering from an identity crisis, and amnesia is not part of the equation unless he visited Dr. Frankenstein's castle workshop.

Re: Found a used Shopsmith on eBay - wow

Only bid was $25 and reserve wasn't met whatever it was. No buy it now price listed. Someone nearby might find a restoration project if they didn't have to spend a fortune. We know with the help and advice of others here, we can rebuild it, we can make it stronger.... faster, maybe not, but more rel...

Found a used Shopsmith on eBay - wow

Found a Mark V on eBay that I figured most folks here would raise an eyebrow over. Shows to be in Springdale, Arkansas. I particularly was impressed with the speed control modifications.... Shopsmith Needs some parts.jpg I have seen a lot of modifications, but I must admit, I hadn't seen this one be...

Re: Looking for parts for a Mark 7

Is this a Mark VII that uses the plastic worm gear speed controller? The Mark 7 is the new Power Pro version and Shopsmith has all those parts available to them since it is a current production machine. If it is a Mark VII, if I recall correctly, you can take off the plastic rack, and replace the he...

Re: What did I buy, 500 or 510?

My only observation with reference to a two bearing quill has been that when I turn bowls, it is a bit more noticeable on a single there is some run out. I had new bearings in both. The Easy Wood Tools Lathe Chisels with carbide tips made it pretty much a non-issue. Once I turned bowls with them, ga...

Glad to pray.

Father I ask in the name of Jesus that you guide the surgeons’ hands and anoint our brother with a quick and total recovery. Amen

Re: upper control sheave

It is entirely possible that the arm that moves the control sheave is bent. Search topics on speed control, porkchop, and you will find quite a number on what may be wrong. I wrote a segment about that very issue in a PDF within a post http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/maintenance-and-repair-f10/buy...
