Re: Parts and dating
Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. Follow the instructions at the links already given and post your pictures. As for questions, ask anything you want information about. We are happy to help. Although on your Shopsmith it says Model ER on the logo/serial number plate, it is actually a Model 10ER. Why do...

Re: Planer head shaft damage from pulley.
This is just my thoughts on the subject. Unless there is something wrong with the stand or motor I would keep it there. Save your back. The Planer is very heavy. I am glad to have the Pro Planer mounted on its own stand. If mine had been a Mark Mount Planer I would have put it on its own stand by now.

Suffer, No but I did chuckle a little thinking back on things I thought should work only to realize I was doing something backwards too.

Re: MV/500 Main Table Won't Align Square
I would suspect the two things JPG brought up. Are the mounting holes blocked by debris. If not I would also suspect a bent mounting tube.

Re: Planer head shaft damage from pulley.
dphoto1, After seeing the end of your Planer's cutter head it appears you have an older Mark Mount Planer. The flat is for attaching a hub. A keyed shaft is for attaching a pulley. Re-reading your original post has me wondering what was attached to the shaft end to drive it. I’m new to the forum and...

Re: Noisy 1991 Bandsaw
Spooner, You asked Are the cooling blocks supposed to touch the saw blade or just come real close to the saw blade? They are not supposed to touch. See page 18 of the Owners Manual found at the link below for more help. It is for the newer Band Saw but other than the aluminum table all of the other ...

Re: Planer head shaft damage from pulley.
As JPG said a picture would help. Depending on the damage, repair may not be the best option. Also simply rounding it down will not have the keyed and flat sides of the shaft as shown in the picture below. Older Cutter Heads may have only a keyed or a flat side but not both. The key or flat is used ...

Re: Shopsmith Model 10's What When and Where
Today I thought about the Carriages for the Model 10’s. The thing I was wondering about was when did the change from version 2 to 3 occur. We know when the change from version 1 to 2 occurred since it went from double wedge way tube locks to single wedge way tube locks just like the Headstock. That ...

Re: Help! Speed dial stripping out....
One thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is the condition of the "Idler Gear" between the Speed Control Knob and the Indicator Ring. In your picture it looks either like it has damaged teeth or stuck on aluminum from the damaged Speed Control Knob gear. It should be replaced if damaged or ...
