Re: Using a Shop Smith Mark V on a Chris Craft Roamer refit

Could the notes actually say 1N1692 instead of IN1692? 1N1692 is a recognized rectifier diode part number.

Re: Using a Shop Smith Mark V on a Chris Craft Roamer refit

Lets see if I can translate simple electronic theory to basic piping theory to give you an idea as to how it works. It is not perfect but gives a general idea of how it works. A resistor is a form of reducer, a diode is similar to a check valve, a transistor an enlarger and a capacitor is like a sma...

Re: Using a Shop Smith Mark V on a Chris Craft Roamer refit

I have not worked with electronics in years so not sure if this will help. While the components age, they change their values most stay within the allowed tolerance. On the resistors the gold band indicated +/- 5% while the silver band indicated +/- 10%. The other problem is that unless you de-solde...

Re: Upgraded my 510 to 520 with used rails& fence, now I just need the rail alignment procedure

I do not have a scanner but I was able to convert the pictures to a PDF but each page is a separate PDF. I do not have the program to edit them into one document. But here are the 520 upgrade instructions. Hopefully this will work. 20230714_124051.pdf 20230714_124117.pdf 20230714_124125.pdf 20230714...

Re: Looking for project ideas

Book or storage shelves, small boxes, desk organizers and display cases come to mind. An apothecary storage unit for small fasteners. There are many kids toys that can be made with smaller pieces as well. When my kids were little I made a chalk table for them with a cover so they could do other craf...

Re: Upgraded my 510 to 520 with used rails& fence, now I just need the rail alignment procedure

I will get a picture of the instructions tomorrow as they are currently in the shop if someone else does not post them first. If I recall correctly, the instructions have you hold the gauge down to the top of the table and try to lift the rail to the short side of the gauge then tighten the fastener...

Re: Anyone use the bandsaw for cutting metal?

From my understanding, it is the speed of the bandsaw that limits what metals can be safely cut. A bandsaw blade speed for wood is 700 to 2000 FPM while metal bandsaws are normally 50 - 300 FPM. Soft metals are able to be cut easily on wood working equipment. If you can slow the SS bandsaw down to t...

Re: Baking center

I added a couple of coats of finish to the edge banding to finish off the carcass. I installed the handle on the appliance lift shelf before installing the banding. I got to looking at the shelf space around the mixer and decided to add some dowels for the beaters, dough hooks and whisks to sit on s...

Re: Baking center

I finished putting the edge banding on the baking center. I put a thinned coat of amber shellac on the banding. Now I just need to decide if I want to put lacquer or spar urethane on the banding. I used spar urethane on the shelves for durability and lacquer on the case so I am thinking about doing ...
