Re: Help me identify this Shopsmith

You have a Mark 5, model 500. Is everything you are getting in the photo or are there more Shopsmith goodies laying around the shop?

Here is a very clean, 1994 model 510 with the newer bandsaw that is as clean as any out there for $500.

Re: Lost

Ron, Welcome to the site. I would suggest you take some time to get familiar with the different sections here. There is a mountain of information here on the 10ER and a quick search will turn up more results than you can read in a year. The best thing to do is go to the Maintenance and Repair sectio...

Re: Have to decide between Model 500 and 510

I faced a similar decision when I purchased a table saw a little over a month ago. My wife and I talked about getting rid of the 510 or the 500 her dad had left me. In the end, her decision, she said if I could fit the new table saw into the shop I could keep both Shopsmiths. I am cramped, but I did...

Re: Global Warming -- Day 3

Re: Johnsons Paste Wax Fire Starter

I had a fire burning in the back of the barn and decided to try to get it back to a smooth consistency. I placed the can on a log close to the fire. Johnsons Paste Wax Fire Starter

I tried to quickly melt some old wax yesterday to get it back to that nice, creamy consistency as opposed to blobs of wax. Apparently it burns very well and would make a great fire starter in an emergency.

Re: Oops - and a new project

I would not recommend cutting narrow strips on the fence side of the blade without having the splitter/blade guard installed. Too much chance of the strip curling over into the blade causing kickback. I have the plastic version but my new ZCI is phenolic. They are on Amazon for $19, but I haven't se...
