That is amazing craftsmanship. Is this a model of an actual ship, if so what was/is its name?

I agree I use the router chuck not the drill chuck, it is designed for the lateral force. Paul, I take it you're using a pen mandrel that has a 1/4" end on it to fit the router chuck? Where did you get it? My Woodcraft shafts only have the option of MT#2 or the approximately 3/16" shaft. ...

Joe, How far away is the rest from the turning? What is keeping the rest from the turning? I extend the quill to at least half its full capacity and have no problem getting in to within somewhere between 1/4-1/2" of the final diamater of a slimline (and closer for thicker ones). This is with a ...

I think you should open aonther section for sawdust. That way questions and comments about the sawdust session can all be placed here. Easy to find and maybe reduce repeat questions. I agree. While I haven't been a dedicated viewer (yet). It would be nice to help collect all discussion in one area.

Woodburner, The demo helped make its operation very clear. I looked at the site ( http://www.elbotool.com ) a day or two prior to going and didn't see the usefulness of the tool. Within minutes of seeing it working it was obvious that this is a worthwhile product. Do take a look at the video on his ...

Paul, I just called Stan, discussing the two options. He's going to try turning down a 2" dia tube to fit the tailstock. He has a nearby friend who has a SS, so he can get good measurements there. He also thought that would probably be a bit better than designing a way to mount it on the tubes....

Gary, I have not seen those episodes that you mentioned. However, this rig is to hollow the inside of turnings, where I believe the duplicator only handles the outside. You use the laser as a visual guide, after setting the distance from the cutting tip, so that you can get a fairly accurate idea of...

Paul, The adapter he is talking about is the mini lathe extension that he used at last week's demo. This would also require some extra finagling as we would have to have long pieces of steel, maybe a couple pieces of a hard wood, to extend across the bottom rails and then bolt his extension to that....
