ShopNotes Back in (e)Print
I was reading the Feb 23 issue of WoodSmith yesterday and found out that after an eight-year hiatus, ShopNotes magazine is back. At this time, it will be published quarterly and only in electronic format. One of the things I like about WoodSmith and ShopNotes is that besides the online viewing inter...

Re: Table saw alignment fixture (Rockler)
I might have missed it above, but make sure you're measuring on the same tooth, at the same point. Take a sharpie and mark that tooth, measure at front (or back), then rotate and measure at the opposite from where you first measured it. This ensures that you aren't measuring a tooth with a slightly ...

Re: cutting 2inch male and female wood threads
I tried one of the somewhat inexpensive tap and die threaders for 1-1/2" hole. The tap worked fairly well, the die didn't do a very good job and I got to a point on the oil soaked walnut where it just wouldn't go any further as well as causing a lot of chip out. I bought a Beall tap and die and...

Re: SS height
Ron, Welcome to the forum. At a skosh over 6', I also found it too low for turning. I found it helped some when I put the legs on pieces of 4x4s. I slide the headstock to one end, lifted the other end and slid the board under with my foot, moved the headstock to the other end and repeat. It could've...

Re: Cordless Power Tool Battery Prices
Steve, The Hindenberg was a far different situation than a modern hydrogen car. The Hindeberg's skin, with it's flammable paint coating, was highly likely at least partly responsible for the rapid spread of the fire. Modern hydrogen storage test leaks have shown to be safer than fossil fuels. Nice w...

Any Makita 18V Tool Users?
I bought a Makita track saw kit with 2 batteries and dual charger when it was on deep sale a bit before Black Friday. This is my first foray into the brand/size. I presently have a plethora of Ryobi batteries and tools, the majority of which I'm quite happy with. I have a couple each drills and driv...

Re: Cordless Power Tool Battery Prices
A few minutes ago I saw that Home Depot has started their Ryobi Black Friday sales. I peeked at a pair of 6 Ah batteries for $139. That seems in line with what I've seen a pair of 4 Ah batteries going for on sale, around $100, sometime in 2021 as I recall.
