lower saw guard cover
[quote="charlese"]Sounds to me , you are doing all the right things. Two additional things you can try in order to get more sawdust into your 3300] How big can my shop be if I have a DC3300 with a "small" hood? Does a bigger hood really mean that my DC3300 will do a better job or...

Value of Used Equipment
You don't really want that.
Instead, I think that you should ship it to me. I'll give you the 75$ and pay normal shipping. Deal???;)

Wixey Angle Gauge
Does the Wixey and the Beall actually serve the same objective? Are the technologies the same? I don't think so. The Wixey reports a delta from a pre-established reference (called 0 degrees) but could be an obvious incline. It is my understanding that the Beall establishes a real world zero referenc...

P.S. What is it with the ShopSmith web site? They seem to run you in circles! yeah, it can get a bit confusing but hang in there. Get to know the website and you'll find that it is very useful and just jam packed with good information. If that is not enough, fill in the blanks by asking more questi...

Under Powered
Ed, I don't think so. By way of comparison. A long time ago, 1993, I towed a 36' Airstream travel trailer with my 1993 Ford F250, turbo diesel long bed with a camper shell. Everything was great, We took the hills like they weren't there. Power galore. Then, one day, suddenly the old truck wasn't doi...

lower saw guard cover
If you find a way to reduce the dust that you are sweeping up, please let me know. The lower saw guard is, IMHO, a weak link in the dust collection system. I've cut fillers, used duct tape, adjusted and readjusted the lower guard all to no avail. The Shopsmith discharges sawdut that must be swept up...

I am the proud owner of?
Yes, warningintruder, you do have a 520 and a nice one at that. Based on your serial number, 145512, I believe your machine was manufactured in the 1984-1985 time frame. The rough-gray texture was first applied in October 1984. I can't tell from the picture whether it is rough or smooth. The motor u...

The Web Site
Ed wins. That is amazing. What's even more incredible is that it isn't linked to the main site. That is the most extensive pile of information available anywhere about the SS. It rivals any site about woodworking in general. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. Clear, concise, extensive....

You are the proud owner
of a Shopsmith Mark V. What version of the Mark V seems to be a bit in question. It sounds like you probably have a 500 that has been upgraded to a 520. You are rightly a proud owner. If you would take and post a couple photographs and give us the serial number of your Shopsmith the prognosis would ...
