Re: Mobility ideas needed

Does that setup have enough weight to stay stable in drill press mode or does it stick to duty horizontally? My construction Shopsmith surprised me with how stable it was in the drill press mode. The 10" wheels (40 psi) flexed very little when in use. I used the drill press mode many times whi...

Re:

I hope Bill Mayo chimes in. He has a contractor ShopSmith made especially for taking to the job site. My construction Shopsmith is pictured above. It was moved to job sites on a tillable trailer. I used a 2 KW invertor for power. Since I quit going to jog sites, I removed the 10" wheels and tr...

Re: Prayers needed again

I pulled a favor and have a Mass for Bill tomorrow, but P cancer is a lost cause. Lost my great FIL at 68 in 91 to it. Some stride have been made in its treatment but not much. Sorry to say. Yes, you are right. Less than 10% of the pancreatic cancers can be treated successfully. The scans I had don...

Re: angle router table

I made up a jig to allow me to weld the 500 main table cutoff legs to a 500 table trunnion to fit in the SPT holes on each end of the Shopsmith. This gives me an adjustable tilt 500 table at each end of the Shopsmith. This also allows me a table sawing capability for my MINI Shopsmiths. Please conta...

Prayers needed again

Just spent a few days at Plant City Hospital checking out a health problem I was having. A CT and MRI revealed I have the beginnings of pancreatic cancer. I go tomorrow to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL to check this out. Just when I have started to get back in my shop again. All prayers will be...

Re: 1986 Mark V 510, USGI

Do a good lubrication on the motor floating sheave. I found this to be the cause of various speed changes when stating the motor. You can not over oil this machine so use plenty of #10 air compressor or machine oil.

Re: Familiarization with Mark V Model 520

It's been a while since I posted here, but now that I have moved my Shopsmith from the garage to a shed where I could work with it, just curious if there is anybody in the Hernando county area of Florida that could help me become more familiar with my machine. I received it from my brother just bef...

Re: Quill Spring Issues

Yes, the quill spring will pick up a lot of sawdust and grit over time. I move the snap ring holding the quill spring housing out to the end of the shaft and flush the spring with oil or a spray lubricant. I used a moly spray lubricant on all quill springs when I rebuilt each headstock.

Re: Joiner Cutter Head Washers

Almost all the joiners I rebuilt had flat washers installed. I replaced them with lock washers for an additional safety factor. I know Shopsmith does not use washers now under these screws so they are not really required.

Re: TheBandsawTireWharehouse out of New Jersey.

Bandsawtirewarehouse.com this brings you to their eBay page and if you put shopsmith in their search block all SS stuff shows up. Belts, chucks, and other stuff. I have never used them and don't know anything about the quality of their products. I have installed most of the Shopsmith parts offered ...
