Re: Metric Rulers???

I am late to see this so maybe you have already made your choice. I am a big fan of PEC tools and think they are as good as Starrett at a more affordable price particularly if you can find some a cosmetic second. They will some cosmetic blemish on them but are totally functional and accurate. I have...

Re: Collet holder

I am familiar with collets as I use an ER-20 holder on my CNC spindle but how are you using them on the Shopsmith?

Re: PARF REAM for 20mm holes

I have used one that is convex on the bottom and fits into the spindle on my mini mill to quickly find the center of existing holes but I have never used one on a router. To my knowledge Festool is the only one that allows an offset for guide bushings. Usually the mounting hole in the base is just a...

Re: MAG-DRO Alignment Tool Option

Just simple addition. Add the distance you measure to the blade to the distance measured to the fence. Some digital calipers have the capability to carry an offset in memory. If that is the case it is even simpler, just read it directly.

Re: MAG-DRO Alignment Tool Option

Think hard about how you would use this MAG-PRO as a table alignment tool on your Shopsmith. Like Dennis I am thinking of other uses than just alignment. For one, once you know the precise distance from the miter slot to the blade as a reference you could use it to set the fence or any number of ji...

Re: Making a Dovetailed Adventure Chest with Shaper Origin

Now that I have a Domino I was considering it for my next project. You are going to like the Domino. I got one for Christmas and after a couple of projects I will never go back to biscuits or dowels. Primarily its for joints that are structural but don't show, at least that is the way I have used i...

Re: Making a Dovetailed Adventure Chest with Shaper Origin

It seems like the SO isn't really the best tool for doing basic joinery like this, e.g. dovetails on a drawer/cabinet. I feel like I have to chime in here even though Ed addressed it. The strongest application of the SO is making joints. That is 90% of what I use it for even though I have a traditi...

Re: If you are interested in what looks like a good deal

I've been shopping for a battery operated sander that uses one of the battery types I already own and have more or less decide on a dewalt. The problem has been trying to find one. Same thing with the corded dewalt 611 that I want. I am looking at battery operated sanders as well but am concerned w...

Re: GFCI protected circuits

My Shopsmith worked fine on a GFCI until I upgraded to PowerPro. Never could get it to work so I now use a 220v circuit since I have it in my shop. Just easier than replacing the GFCI.

Re: My new business venture

Instead, when I need to bolt something, I use nylon bolts which are surprisingly strong I think they would work with the WoodAnchor sliding nuts and nylon washers or wooden hold downs. I put down MDF spoilboards, level them flat and then cut WoodAnchor slots in both X and Y directions. I find it to...
