Tim, I did not mean to say that the smaller hood is as effective as the larger hood. What I do advocate is that in some environments, like my open air garage, I do not get the full benefit of having a dust collector. In a basement shop, an indoor shop with limited fresh air circultion or in a shop w...

Aligning 510 Extension Table

tnerb George gave you the right answer - follow his recommendation and you will have the table alignment that you are seeking. But think about it. You say that your floating tables align properly. How do you align the floating tables? You don't. You attach them to the main table using the rails and ...

a1gutterman, I have had my dust collector for 17 years. About three months ago I put on a new, larger hood. I washed the old one, inspected it, folded it and put it in an airated plastic bag and stored it away. Someday, my grandson will drag it out and may even use it (or sell it). Incidently, I wor...

smitty club?? plus more??

buddydog, If you want to have a "local-get-together" of Shopsmith users, you'll have to either find one in your local area or create one. There is no registry of local users. If you do create one, it will most probably not be sanctioned by Shopsmith; that is to say, Shopsmith will not prov...

Registration for Sawdust Sessions

I just saw the new annotation regarding availability of space in the Sawdust Session. Registration is (Now Full) or (Still Open). Great addition . Now I'm waiting to see what happens on February 24th. In the past, one could attempt to register for a session that had already aired. Often, you could s...

Sawdust Session Ideas

I didn't know that we could also register our requests for "free plans". I have many but I'll try not to be too greedy. I'd just like to see the details of Nick's "Tilting Outfeed Table" complete with a list of parts that must be purchased to replicate it. I've created a kludge o...

It doesn't matter at all, if your Shopsmith is out of warranty. Do with it as you please.

We don't know anything about those that were modified. They may or may not have had a warranty but they don't now.

drive belt alternatives

I have no experience in this matter; I have always used a Shopsmith drive belt. Actually, I have never changed the belt.

This post (post #21) by another member of the forum may be of help:

rick, I must apologize. I can not find the referenced post myself and I am embarrassed to say I don't recall what was there. With a little luck, when charlese reads this he'll recall . Shopsmith has had some problems with a couple of the archived Sawdust Sessions and I believe that was the reference...
