I managed to register but was unable to initiate a post. I was, however, able to post a reply to cinncinnati's post.

It doesn't matter at all, if your Shopsmith is out of warranty. Do with it as you please.

We don't know anything about those that were modified. They may or may not have had a warranty but they don't now.

I have no experience in this matter; I have always used a Shopsmith drive belt. Actually, I have never changed the belt.
