For what it's worth as datapoints.... I have the newer Bandsaw and Jointer models with latest dust-collections. I use the Bandsaw extensively and I note that the DC3300 does an incredibly better job than my little shop-vac there. A night and day difference. For the Jointer, I use it only occasionall...

shydragon, I can't top Chuck's project pictures! I post some (generally smaller) projects sometimes. I can comment on Alignment. I think each Mark V user will have some learning curve. Last year I had apparently knocked my table out of alignment, probably when I put a *huge* mass of 2x4's glued toge...

Wood veneer replacing malleable metal

Hi, Lately I looked through a rusty tool-box inherited from my grandfather. There was a very old pocket-knife almost totally blackened with corrosion. I got it decently cleaned up and popped the metal sides off of it. Taking a cue from the wood-turner magazines, I used some CA glue to bond, stabiliz...

Dayton / Cincinnati

Elsewhere Nick has pointed out the origins of aerospace, business machines, and other industries from this legendary area. I think the same is also true of playing cards....

Looking forward to the Dayton visit though I'll be only for a day-trip...

Chuck,
Very Nice one again ! ! Just missing the custom hardwood toothpicks themselves? That is what tomorrows are for, I suppose....

Hi,

I will most likely have a long day-trip from Indianapolis. Not yet sure which day, but one day only is allowed.

I may have smaller things to buy at a "swap," but nothing really to sell.

Thanks!

Beautiful!

In fact I'd say the splines actually complement the "ziggurat" or "chevron" stylings in the quilt itself. Very nice!

Couple of Small Satisfactions

Hi, I got more of the "SS Bug" lately so I've put the Retrofit Saw Guard on my older model 500. Nice to be tinkering again! At the same time I got the latest Carbide Combination Thin Kerf / super-duper Germany-made SS blade. I ran this today and for the first time my Mark V table-saw mode ...

Offset tubes perhaps

william, We hope you enjoy these machines and continue to honor your dad's memory. FYI, in addition to the prior posts, sometimes a very old bandsaw is sitting on "straight tubes" rather than eccentric-offset tubes; see item 51 in the drawing here: http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/partsc...
