Maybe in 10 years I will be able to find a ...a PP headstock for sale on Craigslist... My thoughts exactly. I went to a demonstration at Lowe's and left without being tempted to spend the bucks on the unit. I really hope this doesn't come across as sour grapes because it isn't. I just simple don't ...

I'm looking into two ER-10s right now. One's here in Richmond, if it works out. As to why I'm doing it, mostly for fun - I would likely set it up for sanding work. I've got a 510 (waiting on SS to send the upgrade parts to make it a 520) and I'm happy with it...and I've got a 500 that's up for sale....

A different perspective

I have a Mark V I bought new in December of 1982. It has been used and maintained since then...but it has the single bearing quill and didn't have the larger tables that the 510 has nor the better fence that the 520 has. I was in your quandary except, I couldn't begin to justify the PowerPro headsto...

Okay, you guys have inspired me

...and I'm looking for a 10ER to bring back from the dead. I've posted a Want to Buy ad on Craigslist here in Richmond, VA but I'm not holding my breath. I figure "if" there are a few basket case 10ER's out there in this area, folks will be asking silly amounts for them after looking at eB...

I was gifted a 54 Greenie earlier this summer. Just finished my restoration - thanks for all the inspiration! It was a lot of fun. Here are a few pics... Great job. I'm curious what you're doing to get the speed control to shine better than new? I'd like to do it to my 510 (soon to be 520...well, a...

While I appreciate Fred's comments on the Power Pro, it isn't under consideration. I've seen it, considered it, and I don't think I'll be buying one unless I see a great deal on Craigslist. I'm just looking for opinions on the 520 vs the 510, now that the upgrade is being discounted.

510 vs the 520

In 1980 I purchased a Mark V model 500 and have used it regularly over the years. I recently bought a 1984 Mark V model 510 with some accessories for $375. It was rough looking but it cleaned up well. After doing all the routine maintenance, cleaning it thoroughly, and aligning the machine, my best ...

After 33 years in public health (but not directly food sanitation), I'd offer a few comments about food safety. First, there are two issues here - one is biological contamination and the other is chemical toxicity. I have not studied this extensively but I have grilled fish using cedar planks that I...

I may well attend - particularly if the weather isn't fit for flying and the fish are not biting. I'm just north of Richmond near where I-95 and 295 intersect. I have little interest in upgrading my power head and zero interest at the current prices but I do have some interest in seeing what they're...

I bought a Work Sharp 2000 a couple of years ago, with the knife sharpener and was very pleased with it until this weekend. A friend came up to visit on Saturday and brought along his WS 3000. As a WS 2000 owner I'll say that for another 100 bucks, you get a whole lot more for your money. I wish I'd...
