Re: Quill not turning

Are the two shafts at the left side of the headstock turning when the motor is running. If yes can you hold them still when the motor is running? If the two shafts have good power then I would suspect the nylon coupling sleeve that drives the quill may be a problem. It is also possible that the coup...

Re: Trouble with Trunnions

Sorry I am getting to this discussion late. A long time ago when I bought my 510 setup I had to align my main table. The factory had their method but I had my own. I found that the left rear trunnion had a hole that was a slip fit for the bolt and provided a pivot point. I reassembled and aligned th...

Re: 3/4” Blade on Shopsmith Bandsaw?

I don't think that is recommended. A 3/4" blade may hang off the wheel which is not recommended. I have done a limited amount of re-sawing with the 1/2" blade with success.

Re: Crosscut weirdness

Did you say that you are using the miter gauge and the rip fence at the same time? That is a big NO NO

Re: 520 table not aligning

If the blade does not hit anything and is close to to the center of the slot you are good to go. There are some variations due to the rubber ring being compressed due to age and use.

Re: SS Mark 7, Lathe and Routing

Troy I prefer the Oneway Talon chuck. I got a Nova G3 as a second chuck but I did not like it. Don't take just my opinion though. The Nova had a left hand thread for tightening and loosening the jaws. A bit confusing when using two chucks. I sold the Nova and bought a second Oneway. Whichever one yo...

Re: Retiree COLA for 2022

The wife and I were just at grocery store and she picked up a package of two filet mignon steaks. The price was $24.99 per pound. I don't buy that cut but it just seemed outragious

Re: SS Mark 7, Lathe and Routing

Yes, pens can be done on a Shopsmith. And other small things also. If you buy a chuck you will have to get a SS adaptor for the chuck.

Said this before and I have to say it again, I don't text, I don't face and I don't twit!!! Those sites are like a 21st century Sodom and Gomorrah.
Stick with specific purpose sites like this one.

Re: Hi there!

I believe that it is an extension for the main table. It attaches to the front of the table in line with the miter gauge slot to support the miter gauge when making wide cuts.
