Re: US Government is About to Change Table Saws FOREVER!
I cannot let this be the final word! Sure there are some here with strongly held opinions(myself included) and they sometimes are a stubborn lot with less than perfect hearing. However having a different view/understanding is NOT justification for vilifying nor being vilified nor is it a valid reaso...

MHO regarding what is spam is the intent of the poster. I think that nails down when a link etc. is spam. Now all we need is a crystal ball to determine intent. However a little common sense should be adequate. I am inclined to give a new poster the benefit of any inadequate proof until sufficient p...

Re: Dragged out a shopsmith
When I ran out of Johnsons, I got the Minwax. Whew... it was a really hard wax to apply. But, on a hunch and a tip from another on YT, I mixed some with linseed oil. With the motor belt removed, the quill shaft should rotate fairly easily.
I suggest first removing the quill and checking it first.
There are two other assemblies(idler and main shaft bearings) that may be contributing to the problem, but they are much more involved in getting hands on to them.

Re: Mark 5 doesn’t start
IF it IS as you described, it is indeed more than 30 yrs old(Think 1950ish). Also it is likely green and silver colored. Does the quill shaft rotate by hand(It will have belt resistance depending upon where the speed control is set) If it rotates so slowly that you can count the revolutions, it is N...

Re: Dragged out a shopsmith
I would be cautious about recommending paste floor wax. Many now have abrasives added for a non-slip finish, and this is not what you want to use on your Shopsmith. Which is why "Original Johnson Paste Floor Wax has been the staple in the past Min wax is a finishing wax and does not contailn &...

Re: Greenie Parts replacement help
The part is essentially a dust cap only. As for noise reduction, a thick layer of grease accomplishes that. That grease is the reason for a dust cap.
