Re: PowerPro Headstock DIY Upgrade

I was running two Marks, a shorty as pretty much a dedicated 520 table saw and a full size 520 for everything else. Bought a PowerPro and DT at what turned out to be one of the last Lowe's demo's. I love the PowerPro, but suddenly had PowerPro envy and wasn't using my dedicated TS shorty. So I did ...

Re: PowerPro Headstock DIY Upgrade

I see Shopsmith is putting the Mark 7 and related PowerPro upgrades on sale today through 9/4/2023. For me the DIY upgrade would run $3091.00 delivered. Which includes the double tilt upgrade. My logic says you really can't have one without the other. It would be nice if they would put them both on...

Re: PowerPro Headstock DIY Upgrade

Honestly, I kind of regret spending the money on the upgrade. I love having the PowerPro, and I got a deal on a second used one, but the upgrade cost a lot of money. Not sure of the price difference between a complete headstock and upgrade kit currently, it was only a couple hundred dollars back th...

Re: Used Power Pro Headstock

By the way, I have sent Shopsmith an email asking why they will sell the double grooved main table tubes in a user serviceable assembly (Double Tilt), but won't sell them without the tie Bar. Granted the tubes may be 90% of the cost of the tie bar assembly. I asked them that too. Maybe I will get a...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

Amazing to see one that is complete. If it were closer to N. Arkansas, I would try to buy it. Good luck in the restoration.

I view the Delta Shop, Shopsmith, and the Hoosier style cabinets as examples of the Leatherman tools of our history. Things that are worth saving.

Re: Delta 23-710

You might do a Google search using a key words search which include "Wood Magazine Sharpening Tool Reviews", etc. Repeat with the other wood trade magazines. I'm sure I have seen comparison reviews of the Delta sharpening machine in one of these. I have the Tormek system, which does a fant...

Re: Quill: 1981 Single Bearing Upgrade

Thanks CPB. I will book mark his site. Just keep checking Facebook Marketplace daily for Shopsmiths. One will appear that you want to buy. The 520 with multiple SPT's will be harder to find and you may have to drive a few hours to pick it up. I see many listings that are obviously inherited and the ...

Quill: 1981 Single Bearing Upgrade

I purchased a 1981 Shopsmith Serial #101940 this past weekend for $350. The seller thought the motor was bad so I bought it at a good price. Included was the bandsaw, jointer, belt sander, jig saw, and many extras. I thought an excellent buy even if the motor had to be repaired. The good news is the...

Re: 510 to 520 upgrade?

First off, this is based on my opinion, not necessarily on any engineering qualifications. Steverboss asked for opinions. In my opinion, the extruded aluminum rails are less flexible than a round tube. More flex = inaccuracies. The roundness of the 510 rails and the method the extension tubes align ...
