Re: Speed control

You can also purchase just the bearing at any local bearing supplier. Just get the number off the old bearing and pick up a new one.

Re: Speed control

Take thei side cover off and run it for a bit. Look at the control sheave area (part #110 on the head breakdown diagram) If you see any vibration there, you possibly have a bad bearing in the end of that sheave. https://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/productmanuals/MKVSTDPartsList%20_1_14.pdf If you do...

Re: Special Purpose Tool Storage

My setup is similar to BillVan's. I have a shelf on the back wall that holds most of my tools. Originally I had it mounted high enough so my Shopsmith fit under it, but last year, I moved the shelf lower because my back would no longer handle lifting things off and on the shelf that high. Re: Military Exchanges and Home Depot

Interesting, but not really useful here. I don't have a Home Depot near me. My local one went bankrupt and closed their doors a few years back. They couldn't find English speaking help to work in the store.

Re: Project Building Plans

I build all my projects in my head so I don't use plans on paper. Trying to follow somebody else's plans just slows me down. Most of my projects end up being one-of-a-kind because I don't have any plans to build another one like it in the future.

Or, you can save a few bucks and get a can of Trewax at Walmart.

Re: Those irksome cut-offs-what to do !

I did this a couple of years ago when my pile of scraps accumulated too much. I had multiple kinds of wood and no use for the small pieces.
