Re: RBI Hawk 226vs vs shopsmith mounted scroll saw opinions

If you haven’t listened to the Hawk, arrange a demo. If you want quieter, then the DeWalt is your machine, but you will give up some throat capacity. Most people buy the Hawk 220 VS, so seeing a 226 is rare. Montana is not a hot bed of scroll saw usage, but a Hawk 220 Ultra in nearly perfect conditi...

Re: Bandsaw Questions

Hi Larry: In years past I’ve cut a significant number of bf using the 1/8” blade. Though the SS bandsaw is decent when using down to 1/4”, in its stock form, it’s not great for 1/8” and narrower blades. You can increase the tension but the blade will still wander off track. My first change was to th...

Re: Resaw blade

Has anyone ever tried one of the carbide tipped blades. I have not and have always wondered if they were worth the bucks. Paul Hi Paul. A friend has a 16” Jet and was given some large chunks of rock maple with the idea of an entire chest of drawers, fronts to be bookend matched. He did buy the carb...

Re: Simple plug for 120/240 conversion no splicing

Hmmmm. Well JPG, I guess I stick with my cobbled cord. I didn’t bother to look on the package until your postings (I never read burgers since he is the ONLY one I have blocked.). After reading your posts I checked on the package and sure enough it has 1875 Watts max. So much for 240 :( . Oh well, I ...

Simple plug for 120/240 conversion no splicing

I was wasting time waiting for a prescription and wandered down the RV aisle at WallyWorld and found this 3D0187F5-D006-453E-9F37-324808F1B23D.jpeg 6DFD0B1A-BB41-4C9A-95A5-78BCB1CE875C.jpeg F19D5B2E-EF4D-4203-BDFC-1F2ED952931A.jpeg For less than $6, a no muss no fuss solution to running your PowerPr...

Re: Downsize No More - Now Preparing to Move In

I’ve been giving some thought to the “lights in the door” concept. Why not attach a couple neodymium (NOT CERAMIC REFRIGERATOR) magnets on the back of an LED strip light ( or two) and then epoxy some thin metal plates on the back of the garage door to hold the lights where you want them. Then they a...

Re: Downsize No More - Now Preparing to Move In

One question: Can I have too much light? Its snowing again so I’m back inside  but I get to visit this forum for the second time this week! :D My first thought is that you might have too much light over one area, where it might be better utilized in an other. Do you have a floor layout finaliz...

Re: Is that a Pica in your pocket?

Thanks Ed!
I’ve been looking for a narrow barrel. I’ve tried a couple of the markers but find them messy and or lacking. This looks great. Just ordered from Festool with the red & yellow leads. They had free shipping! :D  . Not going to turn down free shipping!

Be well,
Ben

Requesting a Moderator or Super Moderator?

Excuse me for any toes i will step on. :o I spend considerably less time on this forum than many of you. However, it does seem that the Admin appears to have less time to devote to this forum than might be needed to eliminate the ever increasing number of crap weasels  who find this a great pla...

Re: Powerpro users voltage question

Usually use 220 since the adapter cord is handy. A couple years back I had wheeled it outside and a 110 outlet was close by so I used it, but was turning very small stuff on the lathe. I’ve never had any belt slippage at 110 nor 220, but appreciated the intelligence of the electronics when I was try...
