Re: Sanding Disk Hub Upgrade
What is the advantage of the 520-style hub on a sanding disk? If there is any.

Can the sanding disk that came with the 500 be upgraded to the hubs that come with the 520?

Granted, storing them in a climate-controlled area will prolong the life of the adhesive. I try not to have more sanding belts on hand than I think I will use relatively qu...

Re: Dimensioning thin stock with a disk sander.
I make small items that have pieces as thin as 1/8-inch. I have boxes full of short hardwood cutoffs with all sorts of thicknesses. A box where I want all the sides to be the same thickness comes to mind. I would resaw it to get the required thickness and sand it flat. To do this with a conical san...

Re: Dimensioning thin stock with a disk sander.
I don't have a drum sander and do not intend to buy a Shopsmith drum sander due primarily to its not being a standard size. This discussion sent me down a rabbit hole researching drum sanders. It seems to me that the sleeveless drum sander is the way to go. I have lots of sandpaper I could use on a ...
