Shopsmith Workbench
I have only seen one other of these on CL within 100 miles in several years. I purchased this one from the original owner who said he bought it around 1980. It's in fairly good condition for a 40 year old workbench. $150 well spent I think. IMG_0494.JPG The casters were broken so I removed them, the...

Re: Shopsmith hacks (Re-purpose)
I have ran through several iterations with my spare Mark VII headstock. I think it may have found its final destination as long as I'm around. A picture of the first and second one is necessary. The third one may only be in my mind because I didn't find the picture I thought I took. The third one wa...

Re: Mark 5 Greenie 1954 Refurbish
davepk13 Thanks for the positive comments. Sorry I couldn't respond earlier. I spent the last 3 days in the Uwharrie National Forest campground with no internet and barely one bar on the cell phone. I have several different saw guards for Mark 5 units. They all have their bad points. While most will...

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'
This is on ebay right now for $80.00. Fairly rare find. I know someone was looking for one.

Re: Mark VII and Mark 5/V Lower Saw Guard
I poured an aluminum copy of a wooden mock-up. As rough as it turned out I might as well have done it on the Smithy mill to start with. The part was hard to hold in the mill vise but I ended up with a reasonable facsimile that does work. Thanks again Russ. $matches[2] IMG_0446.JPG Still have to get ...

Re: Mark VII and Mark 5/V Lower Saw Guard
Thanks Russ that will work great. I think the key to making this work is the little hump in the part at the 11 o'clock position and the screw needs to be more perpendicular as in your photo. I have the other metal guard and upper guard you refer to but just wanted to restore it with this one also.

Mark VII and Mark 5/V Lower Saw Guard
I think this might have came with one of the Mark VIIs that I bought some time ago. It was not originally green. If anyone has one of these or a picture of one could you share a photo of the area where it latches to the lower half of the guard. I have made a couple attempts at this but I only have h...

Mark VII cam and control bracket question
In the picture below I was curious if anyone knows why the bracket control assembly and the cam have the cutout areas that are marked by the red arrows. I don't so your thoughts would be appreciated. That's just a cut off bolt holding them together for the picture not an original shaft. Mark VII cam...
