Shopsmith employees campfire stories

I'd just like to know from folk who've worked at Shopsmith; good times?? I am very proud of the company I work for. Eventhough there have been dark times for me as a worker as well as for the company as a whole. There have also been some good times. Anyone like to share some of their Shopsmith days?...

I have been receiving offers for a CD from Fine Woodworking (Taunton Press)which has 35 years worth of magazines on it for $149.95. Has anyone here bought it and, if so, is it worth the price? BPR

I get the same ad's. I've also seen the product on computer. My preference is to scan ...

What makes other idler shafts bearings more difficult to replace?

Sounds like you may have had a bad experience with one....

Mark VII Idler Shaft Variations

Does anyone know if there are different variations to the bearings in the Mark VII Idler Shaft?

Here is a picture of my idler shaft assembly.

I have been playing around with making a cam for a while; making various molds and casting. The cams I've made so far are sufficient enough to allow me to use my M7, but not good enough to provide to other M7 owners. I do not want to go to aluminum for the cam. It’s quite costly, and I like playing ...

The quadrant follower bearing was a 6 mm X 11 mm X 6 mm size and cost a couple of dollars. How did you get the bearing off of yours without breaking the center pin????

Well.... it wasn't easy. I had to wait until it was nap time. Actually, I used a push-rod (t...

I am researching different types of bearings for the follower; Here are some pictures from my M7.

Hi Michael, perhaps I misunderstood. When you say "quadrant follower", are you talking about the Mark VII or Mark V?

I would only be interested in the follower, but not the cam.

The little rod/spindle that the bearing presses onto pulled right off of the follower .......ARGHHHHH! I am in the process of locating the part or getting it fixed/remanufactured.

 Ouch! That is a bummer. The cam follower takes a lot of heat when the press-fit bearing fails. [...
