Re: New Shopsmith DC-6000 Dust Collector

What they should offer is a 0.5 micron pleated canister filter that mounts on top. That would vastly improve the performance of the machine. The argument about "dust caking on the inside of the bag is a good thing as it reduces the size of particulates emitted" may be kind-of-sort-of-techn...

Re: Pro Planer speed control box problem

I came across a used variable speed switch and bought it as a backup. However, testing with it immediately shorted the coil as you can see in this pictures. It's an inductor coil and I believe the same show in the circuit diagram at http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac198/ghost_mutant/Tools/shopsmi...

Re: Pro Planer speed control box problem

I've been trying to research this issue (failing control switches) to come up with workable replacement part numbers. So far, making slow progress, but I wanted to just let people know that none of the Radio shack links that have been posted here still work. That being said, if you're looking to rep...

Re: Powerpro problem-maybe?

This is why I have a 110v computer fan and a HEPA filter system built into my headstock - to keep sawdust out and keep it cooled. So far not a speck of dust since I did it, and no problems. Sawdust buildup = heat build up = #1 killer of headstocks, PowerPro AND conventional.

Re: Is the 520 Pro Fence and Table System Upgrade worth it?

RF GUY .... Somewhat related, I saw on the FB group a while back where someone didn't want to pay Shopsmith for the price of the replacement stainless steel tape measure for their 520, so they added on some angle aluminum to the 520 rails to give a flat platform where they could mount their own per...

Re: Motorized scroll saw repair

Hello tusconguy, I am going to try your method of repairing my scroll saw (same problem with the notched pulley, bore is out of round). Do you remember the Grainger part number of the pulley you ordered and the shaft as well? That would be a big help to me! I tried to bore the pulley on my lathe an...

Re: Time to discuss Attachments

. Typically when old; what parts need replaced right at the start? or do they wear pretty well? On the bandsaw the rubber tires come to mind. Do those dry up and crack and go bad? Jointer blades? Replacements? Any other thoughts you might have before I begin looking into those? 1) Any SPT you shoul...

Re: Need some advise please

I used the conical disk with fence, in multiple passes to grind down an aluminum bar to fit in the miter slot. Did a perfect job. Just lowered the table very slightly each pass to increase the grind until it fit perfectly.
