Thanks for the info, but I can get the same package from Amazon with free shipping. With what these things must weigh, I imagine that's a pretty good savings.

Parallel clamps, Woodworking Show

Has anyone seen any good deals on the Jet parallel clamps, or any other good brand for that matter. The Jet clamps just seem to have some nice features. Also, has anyone been to The Woodworking Show? If so, what deals did you see there on these clamps? I plan to go to the Kansas City show in Februar...

sending files

You might try renaming it with the jpg extension. Most pc's are pretty picky about having a 3 character extension on their filenames. Also, that's a pretty big file for a jpeg. You could probably convert it to a much smaller size without much loss in quality.

I bought it after seeing the write up on how it clears a room full of dust.
To do that you'll need a good filter bag, like a 5 micron bag.

You can try sliding the headstock as far left as it will go, then use your rip fence on the right extension table as the support for the long end of the board. The smaller surface of the fence will give less resistance. Be sure your table and fence top are waxed and real slick (or use a product like...

Ed,
I think that stephanos is talking about his carriage lock, not the headstock lock.

Routing

I would not recommend the Shopsmith router package. The motor turns too slow for effective routing. The speed increaser would make it work better, but the extra expense doesn't seem wise to me. A router and/or router table would be a better way to go.

I don't know the experience level of everyone on this board, but I do know there are some users on the Yahoo Shopsmith group that can probably help you, so if you don't get any help here, try that forum.

I often use it to clean up by back patio since I gave my shop vac to the son in law.
With a plastic impeller, I'd be a little wary of using it in this fashion. It is after all a dust collector, not a shop vac.

That's good to know. I have not attempted any project using mortise and tenon yet, but hope to soon. Have you used a standalone mortiser before? What is the setup time for the SS mortiser?
